Croydon Mayor Jason Perry said he "took decisive action to remove" the TfL-funded London Road cycle lane scheme in May following complaints

Croydon Council has had more than two million pounds of TfL funding frozen after removing wands from a cycle lane.

The protective wands were removed from London Road earlier this year, with almost 235-thousand pounds to be repaid. The wider funding freeze affects transport and road improvement projects across the borough, including safer crossings. TfL will review Croydon's revised transport plans before deciding whether the frozen funding can be released.
