The Maasmechelen fire station of the East Limburg emergency services zone was called out on Saturday evening for fallen trees in Eisden-Tuinwijk in Maasmechelen, a result of the heavy thunderstorms. At around 21:30, an oak tree landed on a car on the Koniginnelaan, which was parked along the roadway. An oak tree on the Natiënlaan was also partly destroyed.
In the southern part of Limburg, there may be a heavy thunderstorm on Saturday evening. A lot of rain will fall in a short period of time, which may cause tunnels and cellars to flood. There is a small risk of mudslides in the hills. Sudden gusts of wind may cause some inconvenience for outdoor activities, warns the KNMI. There is also a chance of hailstones of 2 to 3 centimetres in diameter, which may cause damage.
