FG, Meta Partner to Boost AI Devt
- Meta, in collaboration with Nigeria’s Ministry responsible for communications, innovation, and digital economy, launched the Llama Impact Accelerator program on June 11, 2025, aimed at supporting AI startups in Nigeria.
- The program responds to Nigeria's growing tech ecosystem and deep AI talent pool by enabling startups that use open-source Llama models to address national challenges.
- The eight-month initiative features a six-week incubation stage offering technical guidance and mentorship, concentrating on Agriculture, Safety and Security, Medical Services, as well as an open category that welcomes innovative AI applications across various other impactful industries.
- Applications are open until June 27, 2025, and selected teams will receive equity-free funding, extended six-month support, and pitch their prototypes at a Demo Day event judged by experts.
- The collaboration represents a significant advancement in developing a vibrant AI ecosystem in Nigeria, aimed at promoting innovation that supports national progress and delivers meaningful community benefits.
