Lizzo Responds After Judge Dismisses Harassment and Discrimination Lawsuit: “The Truth Has Prevailed”
The judge found insufficient evidence of workplace hostility and ruled Daniels’ injury claims did not meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
- On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha granted summary judgment in favor of Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., dismissing the remaining harassment and discrimination claims brought by former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels.
- Daniels filed the suit in September 2023 after working on the European leg of Lizzo's Special Tour, alleging sexual and racial harassment, disability discrimination, retaliation, and a hostile work environment.
- Aenlle-Rocha wrote that Daniels "has not and cannot identify any conduct" demonstrating workplace hostility, adding that alleged incidents fall into what the Supreme Court calls "ordinary tribulations of the workplace."
- Reacting to the ruling, Lizzo wrote she is "relieved" by the outcome, while Daniels' attorney Ron Zambrano stated they are "disappointed" and "considering appropriate next steps" regarding the disability claim.
- Ongoing litigation includes a separate 2023 lawsuit filed by former backup dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, which Lizzo's legal team has denied as a "fabricated sob story.
