Excelsior narrowly failed to win the rescheduled match against NEC. After the Kralingers fell behind early, David Garden and Valentin Sulzbacker gave them the lead. In added time, however, the home team drew level through a goal by Noé Lebreton. Excelsior is now fourth in the Netherlands.
NEC escaped defeat against Excelsior in the absolute final moments on Tuesday evening. With no fewer than eight changes, the Nijmegen side struggled against manager Ruben den Uil's side, but substitute Noe Lebreton secured a point in the 92nd minute: 2-2.
