Visma-Lease a Bike controlled the chase and Wout van Aert set up the final sprint, giving Brennan his fourth stage win at the Vuelta.
- On Tuesday, British rider Matthew Brennan won stage 16 of the Spanish Vuelta in La Rábida, claiming his fourth victory with a picture-perfect lead-out from teammate Wout van Aert.
- The 181-kilometer stage ran from Cortegana to Palos de la Frontera, where Visma-Lease a Bike controlled the peloton and tracked down a five-rider breakaway with 25km to go.
- Brennan said "I really trusted Wout," after Van Aert delivered him to the front with 100 meters left, allowing him to beat Bryan Coquard and Vito Braet to the line.
- Overall leader Enric Mas retained his red jersey with a 2 minutes, 6 seconds advantage over Felix Gall, as the general classification remained unchanged after the stage.
- Wednesday's stage is a flat ride into Seville before a 32.5-km time trial on Thursday that could prove pivotal for Roglic before the Vuelta concludes in Granada.
