Rallying-Rovanpera Wins in Finland as Toyota Sweep Top Five
FINLAND, AUG 2 – Kalle Rovanpera overcame a slow puncture to extend his lead and secure a Toyota top-five lockout at Rally Finland, with 10 stage wins and a 36.1-second advantage.
- Kalle Rovanperä won Rally Finland in Jyväskylä on Sunday, leading Toyota to sweep the top five places at the event.
- Rovanperä secured his first home win after 11 years and two world titles, ending an eight-year wait for a Finnish winner.
- He asserted his dominance by securing victory in five out of eight special stages, finishing the rally more than 39 seconds ahead of his teammate Takamoto Katsuta, with Sebastien Ogier taking third place.
- Rovanperä earned the full 35 points, moved to second overall, three points behind Elfyn Evans, and said, "It was flat out all the way."
- The championship now continues with nine of 14 rounds done and shifts to Paraguay at the end of August as the title race tightens.
