Little talk of ‘world’s largest’ data center planned for southern Ohio
The U.S. Department of Energy and SB Energy plan to build the world's largest artificial intelligence data center on a 3,700-acre site in Portsmouth, Ohio, near Piketon, as announced in late March.
Construction started in 1952 on the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant at the same location.
The Trump administration announced plans in February for a natural gas electric power plant in southern Ohio as part of a new trade deal with Japan.
Both the natural gas power plant and the artificial intelligence data center projects remain planned according to the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
