Prolific Essex Shoplifter Jailed After Cross Border Theft Spree
Sawyer admitted nine shoplifting offences and was given 12 weeks in prison after CCTV linked her to repeated thefts from local stores.
On Wednesday, Nottingham Magistrates' Court sentenced 40-year-old Natalie Sawyer to 12 weeks in prison after she admitted nine shoplifting offences committed while on licence between March 26 and May 23.
Sawyer has accumulated 34 previous convictions for theft and other offences since 2020, yet was caught on CCTV stealing from shops across Nottingham city centre, Radford, Lenton, and the Castle Marina retail park.
Nottinghamshire Police PC Phil Yates stated Sawyer demonstrated a "clear disregard for the law" and refused support programmes designed to help offenders break cycles of crime and addiction.
The court ordered Sawyer to pay compensation to targeted retailers including Tesco Express, Sainsbury's Local, Savers, and Homesense, addressing losses from her theft spree.
Her return to custody underscores the impact of offending while on licence, with Nottinghamshire Police emphasizing ongoing theft and violence affecting local businesses throughout the Nottingham area.
