Lisandro Martinez Blasts Man United Hierarchy After Champions League Loss
- Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez criticized technical director Jason Wilcox following a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, stating he "expected more" regarding squad recruitment.
- United have won just two of their first nine games and are winless in their last five, despite spending £148m on midfield upgrades this summer that failed to address depth concerns.
- Leny Yoro was sent off with under 20 minutes remaining, sealing the loss as Martinez told Prime Video, "I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it's a reflection of how our club is at the moment."
- Martinez deflected blame from manager Michael Carrick, suggesting the team's predictability is the core issue, saying, "But every season is different. You cannot say what you did last season."
- When asked if he wanted more investment, Martinez replied, "Yeah, 100 per cent," emphasizing the need for a stronger squad to compete at the level of Atletico Madrid.
