Lincraft to shut all 60 stores across Australia in shock closure
About 300 staff will be affected as Lincraft keeps selling online during the transition, the company said.
On Tuesday, Lincraft announced the closure of its entire physical store network, with Managing Director John Maguire citing prolonged challenging retail conditions for the decision.
The company began 88 years ago in Melbourne as Suzanne Silks, but increased operating costs, changing consumer behavior, and pressure from low-cost overseas competitors made the physical footprint unsustainable.
About 300 staff members will be affected by the closures, though Maguire guaranteed that all employee entitlements will be paid out during the transition.
Barbecues Galore's recent announcement to shutter over 60 physical shopfronts highlights the broader retail shift, which may pressure commercial property rental yields in secondary locations.
Lincraft will continue to operate online as it progressively closes remaining stores over the coming months, with customers informed of the strategic shift via email to club members on Tuesday.
