- The funding originates from an $8 billion pool that the Liberals set aside following the spring economic update to promote skilled trades across Canada.
- Later this fall, tradespeople who earned a Red Seal certification since April 2025 will receive a $5,000 bonus, while the government also plans to boost employment insurance payments for apprentices.
- Ottawa will launch a program this fall to assist small- and medium-sized businesses in offering more apprenticeships, supporting placements within the Energy sector and Electricity Workforce Alliance.
- Starting early next year, young Canadians can access these paid placements to gain hands-on experience before beginning an apprenticeship, supporting recruitment of a new generation of skilled tradespeople.
