LG Energy Solution's Q4 operating loss narrows on energy storage demand

LG Display posted a 517 billion won operating profit in 2025 after boosting OLED panel sales, including for Apple’s iPhone 17 series, shifting from low-margin LCDs.

  • LG Energy Solution today reported fourth-quarter consolidated revenue of KRW 6.1 trillion and a quarterly operating loss of KRW 122 billion, including a KRW 332.8 billion North American incentive.
  • Rising ESS demand—driven by data-center operators and policy support—helped narrow losses, with grid-scale ESS accounting for 95 percent of regional ESS demand this year, the company said.
  • To meet surging ESS demand, LG Energy Solution will increase global ESS production capacity to over 60 GWh this year, with more than 80 percent in North America, expanding Holland and Lansing, Michigan plants and temporarily using certain joint-venture lines.
  • For the full year, LG Energy Solution reported KRW 23.7 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 1.3 trillion in operating profit with an operating profit margin of 5.7 percent, and the company targets a mid-teen to 20 percent revenue increase this year.
  • The company plans to cut capex by over 40 percent, minimize new investments, maximize existing-line use, and relies on a 140GWh ESS, over 300GWh 46-Series backlog while targeting ships and Urban Air Mobility.
