Revived Hamilton Leads Ferrari One-Two in Monaco Practice
Lewis Hamilton set the fastest pace in practice for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, raising hopes of his first victory for Ferrari after a difficult opening campaign with the Italian team.
Revitalized by a lighter generation of cars, the 41-year-old has found form this year, allowing Ferrari to hold a competitive advantage over their rivals in the principality.
Ferrari locked out the top two positions, with Hamilton finishing 0.111 seconds clear of Charles Leclerc, while Max Verstappen took third place overall.
Mercedes' early-season superiority evaporated as George Russell finished fourth and Lando Norris suffered a mechanical failure after only seven laps.
Kimi Antonelli finished fifth but struggled with the "unpredictable" handling of his car, ending the practice session half a second off Hamilton's pace.
The favourite role is clearly distributed at the Formula 1 race in Monaco. Ferrari will dominate, say everyone - even Ferrari driver and local hero Charles Leclerc himself. His teammate Lewis Hamilton dreams of the first victory with his not so new team.
