Editor’s note: The following letter was sent to The Record by a gentleman from the UK tracing his family roots. My Grandfather’s brother Fredrick Rigby emigrated from Barrow in Furness Lancashire with his mother Ruth Rigby and half-brothers Henry and Herbert Banks. The men joined the Canadian Army in early 1916. Fredrick was killed on Sept. 4, 1916 at Courcelette France and is buried in Serra 2 cemetery nearby. His name is appended on the Sherbr…
