Letter to the editor: Has the Democratic Party changed much over the years?

I have watched Democrat candidate ads for the primary election, and there was a common theme. All the candidates will stand up to the abuses of President Donald Trump and none mention American citizenship. Now if you take out Trump’s name and insert Lincoln instead, you have exactly the Democrat Party attitude of 1861. It makes one wonder if they ever really change.
