Leonard scores 21 points in home re-debut as Raptors blast Knicks
Leonard scored 21 points in 17 minutes and Toronto outscored New York by 50, while coach Darko Rajakovic said the team focused on chemistry.
On Tuesday, Raptors All-Star Kawhi Leonard scored a game-high 21 points in his re-debut for Toronto, leading the team to a dominant 148-98 victory over the New York Knicks.
Toronto re-acquired Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers this past summer, though the trade was delayed by an NBA investigation into salary cap circumvention that resulted in significant league penalties.
Playing only the first half with five rebounds in 17 minutes, Leonard said "we came in to look focused on defence, and that was my intentions," while Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic praised his enthusiasm.
The New York Knicks fell to 0-4 in the preseason after resting four of their five starters, allowing reserve James Wiseman 24 minutes in the blowout loss.
Toronto concludes their exhibition schedule in Detroit on Friday before hosting the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 21, while the New York Knicks prepare for Opening Night against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 20.
The Toronto Raptors celebrated a 148:98 victory against the New York Knicks on Tuesday (local time) in preparation for the new season at the National Basketball Association (NBA).
