Lego Launches 12,060-Piece Sagrada Família — Its Biggest Ever Set
The Architecture set includes 12,060 pieces and 18 towers, surpassing Lego’s previous record-holder, the World Map set, officials said.
On Thursday, Lego officially revealed the Sagrada Familia, a 12,060-piece replica of Barcelona's iconic basilica, marking the largest set in the toymaker's history.
The $800 set arrives as Barcelona celebrates the 100th anniversary of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí's death, with construction of the basilica having begun in 1882.
Designer Rok Galin Kobe stated, "We felt an immense responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Familia through this design," while the 24-inch-tall model features a stained-glass effect mimicking light movement.
Available now for pre-order, the set launches globally on Nov. 1 with 3D instructions via the Lego Builder app, requiring an estimated 25 to 35 hours to complete.
The Lego Icons Eiffel Tower contains 10,001 pieces while Minas Tirith contains 8,278 pieces, positioning the Sagrada Familia as the brand's largest architectural set to date.
To mark the centenary of the death of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, Danish toy manufacturer LEGO has released the Architecture Sagrada Familia set. The model is a detailed replica of the world-famous Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona.
