LeBron Shrugs Off GOAT Debate, Hopes He Made Michael Jordan 'Proud' Wearing No. 23
James said Jordan excelled in several areas while he believes his own game has some advantages, as the G.O.A.T. debate continues.
In a recent ESPN interview, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James addressed persistent comparisons to Michael Jordan, dismissing the debate as a "very tiring conversation" and "barbershop talk."
Growing up in Akron, Ohio, James studied Jordan's game from a young age and later adopted the same jersey number as a tribute to the legend's lasting influence.
James characterized his own style as a "point-forward" approach, noting he has always "looked for the pass," while describing Jordan's midrange jumper and post game as "elite."
While Jordan holds six rings and five MVPs, James argued it is unfair to pit their accomplishments against each other, stating, "You can look at both of us and say that you love both of us."
Currently playing through the 2026 NBA playoffs, the 41-year-old star frames his career on his own terms as a "one-of-one" player rather than a mere successor to Jordan.
