Lawsuit by the Yosemite ranger fired after hanging a giant transgender flag is dismissed
The judge said the former ranger must first use the federal civil service process after the 66-foot flag display led to a firing.
A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by a former Yosemite National Park ranger fired for displaying a large transgender pride flag over a main park road.
Judge Jennifer Thurston ruled that Shannon 'SJ' Joslin, a nonbinary ex-employee, must follow the Civil Service Reform Act's procedures.
Joslin was a probationary employee at the time of termination and has filed a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel.
The lawsuit claimed constitutional violations including free speech rights, while the termination cited unacceptable conduct related to the flag display.
