The Latvian government on Tuesday approved a fiscally neutral draft law prepared by the Finance Ministry to reduce the excise duty on diesel by about 15%, in order to mitigate the impact of the sharp increase in fuel prices on the economy and the population. The Lithuanian Finance Ministry is also likely to propose reducing the excise duty on diesel.
