Google’s Update Mistake—Millions Of Pixel Phones Now At Risk

Last week, Google rolled out the January 2026 update, causing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth failures on many Pixel devices worldwide, with the Google Pixel 10 series most frequently affected.
The update, aimed at fixing battery drain, always-on display flicker and a wallpaper reboot bug, was pushed to models back to the Pixel 7a, though it’s unclear if issues arise from hardware or a background component.
Users report the bug disables toggles and leaves Bluetooth off, with auto-disabling Wi‑Fi toggle behavior and blank Wi‑Fi pages; reboot, safe mode, network reset, and factory reset often fail, though reinstalling latest public build or sideloading OTA images helps some.
So far, Google has not publicly acknowledged the issue beyond advising users to contact support, and some Pixel owners have been offered replacement units by Google support.
Workarounds include reinstalling or sideloading OTA images, but Google recommends a backup; disabling Google Play Services or Fitbit app restores connectivity but blocks Play Store access, while users with Pixel 10-series should avoid the update.
