The Last of Us S03: Druckmann, Naughty Dog Not Involved Creatively
Druckmann said he and Naughty Dog were not involved in shaping the season, while teasing new projects are in the works.
- On Thursday, Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us, confirmed that he and Naughty Dog, developer, have no creative role in the third and final season of HBO's adaptation.
- Stepping down as co-showrunner last year, Druckmann transitioned his focus to Naughty Dog's future projects, including writing and directing the game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as Studio Head and Head of Creative.
- Craig Mazin, showrunner, remains on board for the upcoming final season, which is expected to launch in 2027 and will shift the plot to focus on Abby, character.
- Regarding the studio's future, Druckmann noted that Naughty Dog remains the steward of the IP, confirming there are a couple of projects "in the works" beyond the show.
- Viewership for the second season dropped 55 per cent amid fan dissatisfaction, as the adaptation prepares to conclude with Season 3 in 2027.
