According to the Turkish authorities, some 700 people and 7 aircraft were fighting a forest fire in the Silifri suburb of Istanbul, which destroyed 100 hectares of forests.

The fire, which started in a grassy area in Silivri, quickly spread to a forested area due to the wind. While fire extinguishing efforts continue, the Istanbul Governor's Office reported that 50 households were evacuated as a precaution.
