A verdict has been reached in the trial of municipal officials and council members involved in the "urban reconciliation" agreement between the CHP and the DEM Party. The court acquitted eight defendants, while Elif Gül and Turabi Şen were sentenced to six years and three months in prison each.
The decision was made in the “City settlement” case, in which 10 unarrested defendants, including Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür and Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, were tried for the crime of “being members of an armed terrorist organization”. The jury acquitted eight defendants. Sancaktepe City Council Member Elif Gül and Beyoğlu City Council Member Turabi Şen were sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for the same crime.
