Madrid.- The forest area affected by forest fires between 1 January and 18 August totals 254,730 hectares, 13.8% less than in the same period of 2025, according to data provided by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. The forest fires in Spain have burned slightly more than 240,785 hectares so far this year and 42 large fires have been recorded, according to the data provided this Friday by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO).
