Putin Meets Trump Envoy as Ukraine Peace Deadline Looms
RUSSIA, AUG 6 – Special Envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow ahead of the August 8 ceasefire deadline as Trump threatens secondary sanctions on Russia’s trade partners.
- Wednesday, special envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for three hours of talks, with just days left before Trump’s cease-fire deadline on Aug. 8.

- According to Ushakov, the session generated useful dialogue, and Moscow received ‘signals’ from Witkoff about Washington’s position, sending messages back to Trump.
