Beppu University (Beppu City, Oita Prefecture) announced on the 17th that a large number of various haniwa figures have been excavated from the Ohara Kofun in Bungotakada City, Oita Prefecture. The kofun is thought to have been built between the end of the 4th century and the beginning of the 5th century, and was located at a key transportation point facing the Seto Inland Sea at the time.
