Landlord Facing Voyeurism Charges After Tenants Find Cameras in Rooms: Calgary Police
Police say the landlord may have used other rentals in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver to target Korean women.
On Friday, Calgary police arrested landlord Sooryong Park, also known as Nick Park, charging the 41-year-old with five counts of voyeurism and one count of break and enter.
After a tenant discovered hidden cameras in a bathroom surge protector and bedroom smoke detector on June 7, they alerted neighbors who subsequently found recording devices in their own bedrooms.
Police executed search warrants at a property in the 200 block of Springborough Way S.W. on June 12, seizing multiple electronic storage devices and suspecting similar installations at the 3800 block of Brentwood Road N.W.
Evidence suggests the accused operates rental properties in Toronto and Vancouver while targeting Korean women, expanding the investigation's geographic scope.
Park is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7, while investigators ask anyone with information to contact police or submit anonymous tips via Crime Stoppers.
