Range Rover Sport Electric to Debut Later This Year
The nearly production-ready prototype uses a 118.5-kWh battery and 627 lb-ft of torque as Land Rover expands its electric lineup.
- Land Rover revealed the Range Rover Sport Electric prototype during a private preview at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom last weekend, with a full debut set for autumn.
- The prototype tackled a series of driven challenges in homage to past feats, including the 999-step ascent at Heaven's Gate in China and an Icelandic spillway climb to demonstrate off-road capabilities.
- Energy comes from a 118.5-kWh battery pack, with motors delivering 627 lb-ft of torque and a 50:50 power split, all built on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture platform.
- Managing Director Martin Limpert said the preview shows how the model will "usher in a new era of sporting luxury," promising faster, more dynamic performance while maintaining Range Rover's familiar character.
- The electric SUV will arrive later this year, joining a lineup that includes plug-in hybrids, mild hybrids, and diesel options, as Land Rover expands its powertrain choices across markets.
