Range Rover Reinvents Itself with Different Style of Electric Vehicle
The battery-electric model will be the fifth Range Rover and features a minimalist cockpit with a single-screen display, Land Rover said.
- Land Rover announced the Range Rover GT earlier this month, marking the fifth member of its vehicle family and the brand's first model developed exclusively as a Grand Tourer.
- Built on the new EMA electric platform, the GT will be manufactured at the Halewood plant in Great Britain, with parent company Tata constructing a US$5.32-billion battery factory in Somerset.
- Range Rover designers focused on cabin tranquility, incorporating a minimalist 13-inch touchscreen and a four-seat layout, while prototypes underwent semi-anechoic testing to ensure refinement.
- Martin Limpert, Range Rover Managing Director, admitted the GT "is the most car-like" model ever produced, with insiders estimating a 500-mile range and prices exceeding US$90,000.
- While the company plans to release more details later this year, the GT is not expected on sale until 2027, with a hybrid version planned for a later stage.
