Suns Agree to $13 Million, 2-Year Deal with Veteran Guard Luke Kennard, AP Source Says
Kennard averaged 8.4 points last season and shot 44.2% from 3-point range over his nine-year NBA career.
On Tuesday, free agent guard Luke Kennard agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Phoenix Suns, with a player option for the second season.
The Suns needed outside shooting after dealing Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale to the Charlotte Hornets, and the roster now stands at 15 players on standard deals.
Kennard, a nine-year veteran, shot 44.8% from three-point range after joining the Los Angeles Lakers last season, averaging 8.4 points per game.
With Kennard signed using the Taxpayer MLE of $6.1M, the Suns project to be about $4.9M under their second-apron hard cap.
The move follows Tuesday's opening of NBA free agency, during which the Lakers lost LeBron James, the 22-time All-Star who intends to sign elsewhere for his 24th season.
