LAFD fire engine overturns in San Fernando Valley crash, injuring 2 firefighters
The engine was responding to a structure fire when it struck parked cars and rolled into a storefront, officials said.
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, a Los Angeles Fire Department fire engine rolled into a building in Sunland at about 7 p.m. in the 8200 block of Foothill Boulevard, injuring two firefighters.
Captain Branden Silverman of the LAFD confirmed the fire truck was responding to a structural fire when the rollover occurred, striking two parked cars before landing on another vehicle.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital, while a witness from the neighboring Panda Express described hearing a "loud explosion" followed by a tremor.
Footage from KABC showed one firefighter being wheeled away on a stretcher following the incident as nearby businesses closed early during the emergency response and on-scene investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with no members of the public injured and the identities of the two firefighters withheld pending notification of their families.
