Today, the Parliament has traditionally been visited by heralds of spring, carnival figures and masks from Ptuj with kurenti at the head. The delegation from Ptuj was received by State Councilor Marko Staroveški and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Nataša Sukič. Carnival characters, according to her, are both bringers of good and critics of the social situation.

Among the carnival characters that came before the National Assembly were the kurenti and koranti, as well as the traditional characters of the grandmother, grandfather, housewife, picker, pokač and horses, accompanied by an accordionist.
