Kristof: Witkoff’s Gaza trip ‘a substitute for action – not a spur to it’
President Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and U-S Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee are now the highest ranking U-S officials to visit the Strip since 2009. It's not immediately clear who was in charge of orchestrating their trip and its itinerary, but New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof says it’s clear the trip isn’t a call to action to help solve the humanitarian crisis, but a substitute for it.
At the end of the visit of the American envoy, Steve Witkoff, a visit of strategic importance for Israel's future plans in Gaza, and ahead of a week of security decisions, Israel is signaling that it is preparing to move to a new course of action.
