University Lecturer Dies During Sex Romp with 200-Level Student in Kogi
ANYIGBA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA, JUL 15 – Dr. Olabode Ibikunle, known for strict academic standards and alleged unethical conduct, died suddenly during a private encounter with a student; the student is in police custody and an autopsy was conducted.
- Dr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, a senior academic staff member at Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2025, at a hotel in the town.
- On the same day, Ibikunle arrived at the hotel accompanied by 22-year-old Glory Ojochegbe Samuel, a second-year student from his Social Science Education department.
- Following their encounter, Gloria Samuel alerted the hotel staff when Ibikunle collapsed and the hotel manager reported the incident to police, who rushed Ibikunle to a hospital where a doctor confirmed his death.
- Police spokesperson SP William Aya described the event as "unfortunate," confirmed an autopsy was conducted, and stated investigations are ongoing with further action pending findings.
- The university expressed deep sorrow, called the incident tragic and disturbing, urged the public to avoid speculation, and dissociated other students from unverified involvement while authorities continue their inquiry.
