WHO Launches PROTECT Package to Reduce Global Drowning Deaths

- WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "Every drowning is a tragedy, and most are preventable." The initiative builds on a decade of partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies to advance global drowning prevention policies.
- Ahead of Saturday, Royal National Lifeboat Institution Water Safety Manager Ross MacLeod noted drowning is a "significant public health challenge" in the UK and urged parents to discuss water safety with children during summer holidays.
