Kirstie Allsopp airlifted to hospital after breaking leg on birthday walk
Allsopp said rescuers used the What3words app to find her after a muddy slip left her with a broken leg and surgery.
TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp was airlifted to Barnstaple Hospital after suffering a leg injury during a fall on a steep coastal path in Devon, requiring a major multi-agency rescue operation.
On her birthday, Allsopp slipped on a muddy patch while walking back from a beach trip to Welcombe Mouth with family, prompting her son Oscar to sprint for help.
Rescuers including the RNLI Bude Lifeboat crew and Cornwall Air Ambulance located the presenter using the What3words app, then administered "a huge amount of painkillers" before surgery.
Following successful surgery, Allsopp expects recovery using a boot and crutches, stating she has "a job that I can do on crutches" and feels "very, very lucky" to have reached hospital quickly.
Messages of support from well-wishers like Jools Holland followed the accident, which marks another serious fall after the star broke bones while filming in Stoke Newington in September 2023.
