- On Wednesday, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announced their 28th studio album, 'Alien Metal,' which pivots to electronic dance music despite the title and will release later this summer via p records.
- Frontman Stu Mackenzie admitted the band scrapped entire albums before honing the sound during a late-night jam using a modular synthesizer setup they dubbed 'Nathan.'
- To celebrate, the band released lead single 'Level 5,' featuring incessant breakbeats and autotuned samples, with an accompanying music video showcasing Australian actor Vince Colosimo.
- King Gizzard will tour the U.S. next month, headlining Field of Vision II in Colorado from August 14 to 16, then playing three nights at Forest Hills Stadium and a rave show in Brooklyn.
- Although the band has not confirmed an exact release date, they indicated the project is coming 'soon,' ending one of their longest studio droughts since 'Phantom Island' arrived in June 2025.
