Kevin Garnett Jersey Retirement: Timberwolves Will Finally Hang No. 21 in Rafters
The Timberwolves will honor the Hall of Famer with theme nights, giveaways and limited-edition merchandise during the 2026-27 season.
- On Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett's No. 21 jersey will be retired on Feb. 28, 2027, at Target Center following a game against the Boston Celtics.
- Garnett returned to the franchise in December 2025 as a Team Ambassador, ending a decade-long "frosty relationship" with former owner Glen Taylor that delayed the jersey retirement.
- During 14 seasons in Minnesota, he led the team to eight straight postseasons and earned MVP honors in 2003-04, finishing as the franchise's all-time leader in assists , steals , and blocks .
- Minnesota will host a season-long celebration featuring theme nights and exclusive memorabilia during the 2026-27 season, with fans receiving commemorative figurines and an exclusive T-shirt for Jersey Retirement Night.
- "Retiring the jersey is just the start of the next chapter," Garnett said, while former teammate Paul Pierce praised him as "the foundation" of the franchise with a "real cult following" in Minnesota.
