KET Revives Plans to Cover Fancy Farm After Donation
GRAVES COUNTY, KENTUCKY, JUL 22 – Kentucky Chamber of Commerce donation offsets a $376,000 funding gap, enabling Kentucky Educational Television to resume coverage of the 2025 Fancy Farm political rally.
- Coverage of the Fancy Farm political rally returns on Aug. 2 as KET broadcasts in Western Kentucky, thanks to a donation from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
- A rescission bill passed July 17 stripped $9 billion from public broadcasting, leading Kentucky Educational Television to cancel its Fancy Farm coverage last week.
- More than $400,000 has been raised, Louisville Public Media reported Friday, as Shae Hopkins, KET executive director and CEO, noted the release did not disclose the donation amount.
- On Saturday, Aug. 2, Renee Shaw will host the live broadcast with analysts Bob Babbage and Trey Grayson, and the station will air highlights at 8/7 p.m. Aug. 3.
- This year’s picnic will feature U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, former Attorney General Daniel Cameron and businessman Nate Morris, reflecting a trend toward a more Republican-heavy event in recent years.
