The move aims to address common problems faced by senior citizens when they visit offices, such as long queues, stairs without handrails, forms in small print, and counters that require climbing stairs, etc.
Keralam launches India’s first Elder-Friendly Office Certification
EFOC is aimed at enhancing accessibility for senior citizens in government offices. The initiative will evaluate institutions based on five key domains, awarding Gold, Silver, or Bronze certification. The pilot phase is expected to begin within this financial year.
The scheme will be extended in phases to institutions like village and taluk offices, hospitals, banks, transport counters, etc. Based on common criteria, the offices will be inspected and certificates will be issued in gold, silver and bronze categories.
