A CCPA report says only 11 of 35 Canadian cities have $10-a-day daycare or cheaper, and B.C. holds all five of the priciest spots.

- Richmond, Vancouver, Surrey and Burnaby rank as the country's most expensive cities for childcare. Richmond parents spend on average $52 daily for infants and $42 for preschool-aged children.
- Kelowna ranks among the most expensive cities, with average daily costs of $28 for infants and $24 for preschoolers. Only 18 per cent of daycare spaces there cost $10 per day.
- Implementing $10-a-day daycare in Kelowna would provide parents approximately $393 in monthly savings per child. Nationally, the Canadian Centre report claims only 11 of 35 cities have achieved such affordable rates.
- Parents have seen some of the smallest savings since 2019, particularly for infants aged two years. These costs remain a significant financial burden for families despite ongoing childcare initiatives.
