Kelowna man accused in high profile killing pleads guilty to breaching conditions
Plover admitted breaching a no-contact order tied to the McCourt case, and a psychiatric assessment was ordered before his Oct. 1 sentencing.
- At the Kelowna Courthouse, Kelowna man James Plover pleaded guilty Friday to breaching a no-contact order while remaining in custody awaiting trial for the first-degree murder of his estranged wife, Bailey McCourt.
- The breach offence occurred in Pitt Meadows on Sept 24, 2025, while Plover was in custody for the 2025 death of McCourt; Plover allegedly fatally bludgeoned the victim in a Kelowna parking lot.
- Defence lawyer Cory Armour requested a psychiatric report ahead of sentencing; Judge Andrew Tam granted the request, ordering an assessment "with a focus on any mental disorder from which Mr. Plover may be suffering."
