Thousands Are Out Celebrating Canada Day in Kelowna
Downtown streets, parks and Prospera Place hosted games, live music and food as the celebrations continued with fireworks over Okanagan Lake.
Thousands of residents crowded Downtown Kelowna on Wednesday, July 1, celebrating Canada's 159th birthday with festivities spanning From Stuart Park to Waterfront Park to Prospera Place.
The 51st annual Folkfest drew crowds to Prospera Place, where attendees enjoyed the Annual Kelowna Folkfest Stage and Ethnic Food Booths featuring international cuisine and live music.
Official Canada Day ceremonies at Prospera Place at 12:30 p.m. featured speeches from Mayor Tom Dyas, MPs Dan Albas and Stephen Fuhr, and MLA Gavin Dew.
The Touchdown Kelowna Fan Fest operated near the Dolphins statue, featuring Lions tents and activities ahead of their upcoming game at the Apple Bowl.
Wednesday night festivities concluded with the annual fireworks display over Okanagan Lake at 10 p.m., marking the end of the city-wide celebration.
