7 Revelstoke Students Competing in Track and Field at BC Summer Games
The athletes will compete in nearly a dozen events as Revelstoke sends one of its largest recent track and field teams.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, seven Revelstoke Secondary School students depart for Kelowna to represent the Thompson-Okanagan zone in 10 track and field events through Saturday.
The Games Society selects participants based on highest school athletics marks in each zone, with two students per zone qualifying for each event, allowing up to 16 athletes per competition.
Coaches Jeremy Weddell, Jeff Colvin, and Krista Royale oversee the athletes in the South Okanagan, alongside Okanagan Athletics Club coaches Amber Gilbert, Omar Mourad, and Bernard "Buzz" Manuel.
Competing against older athletes, these Grade 8 and 9 students pursue personal bests. "This crew has done so well," James Rorstad's mother Liz Rorstad told Black Press Media.
Athletes return home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, following the games. Some participants previously competed at the 2026 Winter Games in Trail and Rossland earlier this year.
