Kaunas scientists are developing smart nests that would not only be homes for birds, but would also collect a variety of data. Since there is a severe shortage of foresters, it is difficult to inspect large areas, and a smart forest would be like observing itself, so it would be possible to detect various changes in the ecosystem, introduced pests and even illegal logging or fires in almost real time.
