"Karnataka seeks 'fairness in funds, voice and respect' for South": Shivakumar
Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Thursday made a strong pitch for greater fiscal and political equity for the southern states, calling for fairness in the allocation of funds, a stronger voice in decision-making and due respect for the states that contribute significantly to the country's economy.
In the Southern Zonal Council meeting, Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar sought a fair share in the allocation of funds and resources for the southern states. He raised the issue of representation commensurate with the contribution of the south to the country's economy, the 'Karnataka model' of water disputes and the loss due to the reduction in the share of the Finance Commission. He stressed on the implementation of women's reservation.
