Ranveer Singh Offers Prayers at Chamundeshwari Temple: A Court-Directed Act of Penitence
The court quashed proceedings after his unconditional apology and ordered him to make amends by visiting the shrine.
Actor Ranveer Singh visited Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on May 26 after the Karnataka High Court directed him to make amends for his conduct in the Kantara mimicry case.
The controversy originated last year when Ranveer mimicked the Daiva tradition during Dhurandhar promotions at the International Film Festival of India closing ceremony in Goa, sparking a complaint alleging hurt to Hindu religious sentiments.
After submitting a revised affidavit in April, the Karnataka High Court quashed proceedings last month. Ranveer stated, "My intention was to highlight Rishabh's incredible performance in the film" and emphasized he "always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief."
The temple visit comes amid a separate dispute: the Federation of Western India Cine Employees issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer after he allegedly ignored three meeting reminders over his Don 3 exit.
Ranveer's abrupt exit from Don 3 three weeks before production began has triggered demands from Excel Entertainment for Rs 45 crore in damages, covering pre-production expenses including accommodations and overseas travel for over 200 workers.
