Kansas' Darryn Peterson is the headliner among top-flight 1-and-done guards in NBA draft
Several standout freshman guards, including Arkansas' Darius Acuff Jr., Illinois' Keaton Wagler, Louisville's Mikel Brown Jr., and Houston's Kingston Flemings, have emerged as top NBA draft prospects following breakout seasons.
Elite scoring efficiency defines this class, with Acuff ranking third nationally in scoring at 23.5 and Wagler earning "Excellent" ratings from Synergy for his pick-and-roll play.
Flemings demonstrated disruptive defensive potential as a lead guard, averaging 16.1 points while shooting 47.6% overall and 84.5% on free throws with an ability to pressure teams in transition.
Louisville's Brown Jr. broke the Atlantic Coast Conference freshman scoring record with a 45-point performance, though scouts note he and other prospects like Brayden Burries must add strength to handle physical play.
Burries showcased athleticism at the combine, including a 35-inch standing vertical leap, to solidify his draft position ahead of the upcoming NBA draft.
